Game Drives in Masai Mara

A game drive in the Maasai Mara is a guided wildlife viewing excursion through the savannahs and conservancies of one of Africa’s most iconic ecosystems. Conducted in customized 4x4 safari vehicles, these drives allow visitors to observe all animals e.g lions, elephants, giraffes, cheetahs, and the Great Wildebeest Migration in their natural habitat. Game drives are typically offered in the early morning (from 6:30 AM) and late evening (from 6:30 PM), when wildlife is most active, though full-day drives with picnic lunches are also available.

Types of Game Drives

Game drives vary in duration, exclusivity, and experience:

Morning Game Drives:

Begin at dawn to catch predators on the move and animals grazing in cooler temperatures.

Afternoon/Evening Drives:

Focus on animals returning to water sources and preparing for dusk.

Full-Day Drives:

Last from morning to late afternoon, often including a picnic lunch inside the reserve.

Private vs. Shared Drives:

Luxury lodges often include shared drives (5–8 guests), while private drives offer customizable itineraries and better photography opportunities.

Location: Southern part of the Mara River
